Six pc DA hike for Central govt employees: Cabinet
New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) The Cabinet today announced a six per cent hike in the dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees and in the dearness relief for the pensioners.
The increase would have retrospective effect from January 1, 2008 and the combined impact on the exchequer would be Rs 3,297.12 crore in a full year and Rs 3,846.66 crore in the financial year 2008-09 (including the arrears), Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.
With this, the DA has gone up from 41 per cent to 47 per cent.
The hike would be paid in cash.
