Munda demands action against policemen for lathicharge in steel city

Ranchi, Mar 07 (UNI) Criticising yesterday's police lathicharge in Bokaro, Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda today said the UPA backed government of Jharkhand was trying to repeat the Nandigram here.

Raising the issue in Assembly, Mr Munda, the former Chief Minister, alleged that about 32 people, protesting in the steel city, were injured in the lathicharge.

'' The protestors were displaced and inhumanly manhandled by the police,'' Mr Munda told the House.

Mr Munda said the police were trying to repeat the Nandigram incident and added that the problem could not be solved without announcement of displacement policy of the state.

Meanwhile, deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi said the Chief Minister would detail the entire issue in the second half.
