MK announces solatium of Rs 4 lakh to kin of fisherman
Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced an additional solatium of Rs four lakh to the family of a fisherman, who was shot dead by the Sri Lankan Navy on March 5.
The fisherman, Christie, hailing from Thangachi Madam near Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district was killed by the Lankan Navy on the high seas and Mr Karunanidhi, expressed grief over the incident and announced an immediate assistance of Rs one lakh from the Chief Minister's Public relief fund.
Following demands from the local fishermen seeking enhanced assistance, Mr Karunanidhi today announced an additional assistance of Rs four lakh to the bereaved family, an official release said.
