Friends abduct, murder close friend for ransom

Shivpuri, MP, Mar 7 (UNI) Five youths abducted and murdered a close friend in this district, police said today.

The accused were traced and nabbed on the basis of their cell phone calls made by them in a bid to extort ransom from victim's parents on the pretext that the he was alive.

After intense interrogation, the accused revealed that Veerendra Jatav, Kamal Jatav and Mahendra Jatav along with Gyani Jatav and Mahendra Adivasi has hatched the conspiracy to kidnap a person whose family members could pay the desired ransom and who could be abducted easily.

Later, they targeted their friend Thakurpura-resident Brijesh Tengar as his father was a government employee. Acting on their plot accused took away Brijesh on the pretext of playing cricket in this district's Narwar area. They made him eat some sweets mixed with sleeping pills, and took him to a nearby forests.

The accused hit Brijesh's head a stone with and returned back after hiding the body in the forest. Later, they started demanding ransom from his family through phone calls and letters.

On the basis of their phone calls police apprehended two accused and after interrogations the rest were also nabbed a fortnight back.
