Fast observed to condemn desecration of Thevar statue
Virudhunagar, Mar 6 (UNI) Hundreds of activists affiliated to various political parties and Thevar organisations observed a day's fast to condemn the recent desecration of a statue of veteran freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalingam Thevar at Jawahar Ground in Rajapalayam here today.
The agitators, led by All India Forward Bloc State Secretary and popular Kollywood actor M Karthik, urged the Tamil Nadu Government to immediately arrest the culprits.
Some miscreants had removed the head of the statue at Sankaralingapuram village near Rajapalayam on March 3. Tension prevailed in Virudhunagar district following the incident.
