Man arrested for attempting to smuggle explosives to LTTE
Rameswaram, Mar 5 (UNI) Police today arrested a man for attempting to smuggle explosive materials for LTTE and seized them at Pisasumunai seashore, here today.
Police sources said acting on a tip off, a police team rushed to the spot and nabbed the man moving suspiciously. 50 detenators and ten gelatin sticks were seized from his possession.
The accused was identified as Chandran (49), hailing from Kanchirankulam Village near Mudukulathur in Ramanathapuram District.
Mr Chandran confessed that explosives were procured for supplying to an LTTE agent, meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka.
Investigation was, underway, police added.
