Woman killed, 3 children hurt in road mishap
Mumbai, Mar 4 (UNI) One woman was killed and three children were injured when a car hit them while they were trying to cross the road near Kamlabai Sports Club at Malad in western suburb today.
The mishap took place at around 0700 hrs when the woman, Nila Sudhir Joshi (40), was taking her children -- Aditya and Jalak -- to school, Senior Police Inspector S Jaiswal said.
When they were standing near the bus stop to cross the road, a Toyota Innova hit them resulting in the death of Nila on the spot.
Aditya suffered head injuries, and Jalak suffered leg injuries while, another child, Siddharth, who was also standing at the bus stop, suffered leg injuries, Mr Jaiswal said.
After the incident, the driver of the car, G S Pawar (20), fled from the scene. However, he surrendered before the police later in the afternoon, Mr Jaiswal added.
Police has registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver.
