Vidarbha farmers to benefit from budget provisions: Deshmukh

Latur, Maharashtra, Mar 4 (UNI) Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said Vidarbha farmers should get maximum benefits from the budget provisions and, accordingly, the Finance Ministry will be requested to study the technicalities regarding the loan waiver of farmers owning up to two hectares of land.

Speaking to reporters here before heading for Mumbai, Mr Deshmukh once again congratulated the Prime Minister, the UPA Chairperson, the Finance Minister and the Agriculture Minister for the historical budget.

''The regions of western Maharashtra and Marathwada have smaller land holdings and will benefit from the budget provisions, including the small farmers of Vidarbha,'' he said.

Replying to a question, Mr Deshmukh said the farmers are already being benefited from the Prime Minister's package, and they will continue to get relief from the budget provisions.

He reiterated the state's commitment to help the poor, and small and marginal farmers.
