Tax benefits only for films with ''genuine'' Tamil titles

Chennai, Mar 4 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today made it clear that only films which had ''genuine'' Tamil titles will be entitled for tax benefits.

An official release here said the films with titles which were not 'genuine' Tamil, would not be entitled for any tax benefits.

The government, with a view to popularise the use of Tamil language, had announced the tax benefits to films with Tamil titles.

''But in recent times, there have been films with titles spoiling the Tamil langauge and they were insisting the government to provide tax benefits to it,'' the release said.

''The government's real intention to promote Tamil language has been defeated by it. Hence, the government decided not to extend the tax benefits to films with improper Tamil titles'', the release added.
