Shillong, Mar 4: Former minister and NCP candidate Adolf Lu Hitler R Marak was arrested on charges of criminal intimidation and violation of the People's Representation Act. Mr Marak was arrested late last night after he forcibly took away his seized vehicle and intimidated two police constables in Garobadha police station, Superintendent of Police JFK Marak told UNI here.

Police had seized Mr Marak's vehicle for not possessing the necessary election documents in the just concluded Assembly polls in the state. The former legislator whose electoral fate is sealed in a Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) had faced a tough electoral battle from Congress candidate and Minister Zenith M Sangma in Rangsakona Assembly constituency of West Garo Hills District. ''We have registered a case against him for criminal intimidation, trespassing, obstruction of government servant and for violating the People's Representation Act,'' Mr Marak said. This is the second time that Mr Marak's was arrested by the state police. On June 27, 2003, the former Co-operative Minister was arrested for having ''close-links'' with the outlawed A'chik National Volunteers Council after he lost the election to Zenith M Sangma. Meanwhile, Mr Marak, who was produced in a local court, has been denied bail and remanded to judicial custody.
