Contractors threaten to stop work to protest non-release of funds

Imphal, Mar 4 (UNI) The contractors working for the Imphal Sewerage Project have threatened to stop work from tomorrow if the funds were not released by the Public Health and Engineering department (PHED).

The contractors alleged that though work worth about Rs 20 crore had been executed, only about Rs four crore were released.

The state government had assured to release the funds, however, nothing had been done so far.

The contractors said they had no option but to stop the work.
