Badal, Bhattal exchange lighter moments in Punjab assembly
Chandigarh, Mar 4 (UNI) Amidst sharp exchanges between the ruling and opposition benches during the Motion of Thanks on the Governors address, the Punjab Assembly witnessed some lighter moments when Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal made a reference to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal being described as a saint (Guru) in the address.
"Badal sahib this reference in the Governors address can only indicate that you are being retired (from politics), as saints reside only in gurdwaras or 'deras' ", she said while participating on the debate on the address.
At this juncture, Mr Badal got up and told the House that he was ready to become a saint provide Bibiji (Mrs Bhattal) comes to touch his feet. At this members of both the ruling and opposition burst into peels of laughter.
Mrs Bhattal was quick to reply that she only bowed before the Guru Granth Sahib and not before any individual.
