CPI-M playing selfish politics in Darjeeling: Mamata
Kolkata, Mar 3: All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) supremo Mamata Banerjee today claimed that the CPI(M) does not want peace in Darjeeling and accused them of indulging in selfish politics in the Hills.
''The CPI(M) has the sole reponsibility in creating the political turmoil in the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council(DGHC) and they do not want peace in the area,'' she claimed at a rally organised by the Janabadi Forward Bloc here, and alleged that they are indulging in the "same kind of selfish politics as that in Nandigram and Singur". Ms Banerjee said the CPI(M) and the Congress had chalked out a compromise formula by sending Gorkha National Liberation Front(GNLF) chief Subash Ghisingh to New Delhi as a Rajya Sabha member for appeasing its opponents.
She claimed that the CPI(M) were playing a double game by presumably extending his support to both Gorkha Janamukti Morcha(GJM) chief Bimal Gurung and GNLF chief Mr Ghisingh. Referring to clashes in Nandigram, Ms Banerjee said, ''They are indulging in hooliganism once again in the state.
''We have now brought our agitation to the streets and will continue until peace is restored in the DGHC,'' she added. ''There is no law and order in the state and democracy has seen its decline in the CPI(M) government in West Bengal,'' she said and urged all parties to unite against them to oust them from their power.
