Railways production units exceed targets

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) All the production units of Indian Railways, including Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), excceded their production targets during the first ten months of the fiscal 2007-08.

CLW produced 154 electric engines against the target of 154 while Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) produced 190 diesel locomotives against the target of 181 during April 2007-January thisn year.

Rail Coach Factory (RCF) manufactured 1194 coaches, exceeding the target by 16 units whereas Integral Coach Factory (ICF) produced 1006 coaches against the target of 1021 coaches during the same period.

Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) produced 116677 wheels and 39979 axles against the target of 106504 wheels and 40031 axles during the period.

During the month of January this year, CLW, DLW, ICF, RCF and RWF produced 20 electric engines, 20 diesel engines, 100 coaches, 141 coaches, 15170 wheels and 6030 axles respectively against the target of 22 electric locomotives, 18 diesel locomotive, 115 coaches, 134 coaches, 11301 wheels and 5982 axels.

The punctuality percentage of mail/express trains was 88.7 per cent in Broad Gauge and 99.5 per cent in Metre Gauge during January 2008 compared to 87.9 per cent and 99.5 per cent respectively during the same period last year.

Railways also realised an amount of Rs. 21 crore during this month through ticket checking.
