Protest against irregular supply of food at tribal hostels

Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, Mar 2 (UNI) A rally was taken out by hundreds of tribal students today to protest irregular supply of food at tribal government hostels in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh.

Tribal students alleged that the benefit of various government schemes was not being provided by the hostel superintendent and the education officer. Students claimed that many times food was not provided at time even during examinations.

The rally was taken out through main streets and culminated at the Pathalgaon Tahsil headquarters.

Later, students submitted a memorandum to the Station House Officer. SHO Mahilane admitted receiving a written complaint regarding not being provided timely food at the hostels.

Block Education Officer S K Choudhary told UNI that hostel superintendent had been removed with immediate effect and directions had been issued for punishing guilty officials.

Former MP Devi Singh described inadequate arrangement for food at tribal hostel as shameful.
