Opposition parties organise 'maha dharna' in AP
Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh today organised a 'maha dharna' at Bapu Ghat here to protest the sale of government lands to private companies in the state.
Participating in the dharna, organised by the TDP, BJP and Left parties, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the state government was selling the government and assigned lands to real estate companies through auction in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
He alleged that the relatives and supporters of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy were encroaching on government and agricultural lands assigned to the poor.
Stating that the TDP would recover the lands, which were sold during the present regime, if his party was voted to power in the state, Mr Naidu said ''we have the responsibility to protect the government lands from encroachments.
State BJP President Bandaru Dattatreya, CPI State Secretary K Narayana and CPI(M) state Assistant Secretary Y Venkateswara Rao and TDP senior leaders participated in the dharna.
