NNC flays politicians' promises

Kohima, Mar 02: The Naga National Council(NNC) today criticised politicians for making false promises about the Naga political issue during the elections and asserted that the people could never trust politicians.

NNC president Gen (Retd) I Panger Walling, in a statement, said the Nagaland Assembly elections was an ''imposed election in the Naga country''.

He alleged that politicians made promises but miserably failed to find solutions to the Naga political issue, instead they created confusion and division among the people by siding for one faction against the other and channelling their interests in the pursuit of their own gains.

''For the NNC, the Plebiscite of 1951 is the final verdict of the Naga people and the people should stand by their inalienable rights,'' Mr Walling stated.
