VP Singh welcomes debt relief to farmers, tax cuts
New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh today welcomed the massive debt relief given to farmers in the Union Budget for 2008-09.
''The farmers have been demanding the loan waiver for a long time.
It was most needed,'' Mr Singh said here.
The former Prime Minister also hailed the concessions in the income tax and taxes on consumer goods.
He, however, felt the allocation for infrastructure was wanting.
''Investment in infrastructure need more attention than given,'' said Mr Singh.
