Two arrested, 2.5 lakh worth jewels recovered

Tirupati, Feb 29: Two people were arrested and jewels worth Rs 2.5 lakh was recovered today.

Talking to newspersons here, Additional Superintendent of Police Seshu, while displaying ornaments before media said the accused Pandu(28) committed the crime when the owner of the house Subramaiya Sastry, shifted to another house four days ago. Based on a complaint lodged by Mr Sastry, a police team rushed to a jewellery shop in the area and nabbed the owner, who confessed to having received the stolen ornaments from Pandu.

The duo were produced before the court and remanded to custody, Mr Seshu added.
