Pachouri arrives to tumultous welcome in Ujjain
Ujjain, MP, Mar 1 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Suresh Pachouri arrived to a tumultuous welcome by party workers at this temple town this evening.
Thousands of Congress workers gathered at the local airport to welcome Mr Pachouri, who was visiting the town for the first time since being appointed as the MPCC President. Lot of jostling was witnessed due to huge crowd and a situation of chaos developed for some time.
The presence of heavy crowd for Mr Pachouri's welcome could be viewed as building up of an atmosphere for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh due to take place towards the end of this year.
Several leaders in the crowd were seen holding their biodata and other documents and waiting eagerly for Mr Pachouri with the hope of getting ticket for contesting the assembly polls.
After arriving at the airport, Mr Pachouri drove straight to the Jyotirlinga Mahakaleshwar temple where he offered prayers to Lord Mahakaal.
He left from the temple to the local Congress office in the form of a rally where he would address a public rally.
On the occasion, he exhorted Congressmen to gear up for the upcoming polls. He said the party would launch a struggle against rampant corruption in the government. He claimed that people were fed up with the BJP Government and would vote for a change.
