LT Gen JP Singh takes over as GOC Kharga Corps

Ambala, Mar 1 (UNI) Lieutenant General JP Singh took over as General Officer Commanding (GOC) Kharga Corps here today.

Alumni of St Joseph's Academy Dehradun and NDA Khadakwasla, the General Officer was commissioned into Armoured Corps in June, 1971.

He saw action on the Western front in Fazilka Sector during the 1971 operations.

General Singh has had a distinguished career and held a number of coveted command, instructional and staff appointments. The General has had the privilege of commanding an Armoured Brigade and an Armoured Division.

He was awarded the AVSM during the command of Armoured Division.

He has also headed the Indian Training Team in Zambia from 1996-98.

His tour of duty in Lusaka also saw him performing the role of Chief Advisor to Zambian Army.
