Grain allocation for mid-day meal scheme in Karnataka
New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The mid-day meal scheme has been extended to students of class six and seven from August 2007 for 3,500 children in 74 educational backward blocks in Karnataka.
Food grain allocation for the scheme from October 2007 to April 2008 has been 20, 246 mt and the cash component was Rs 2768 lakhs for cooking and management costs, Union Minister of State for Human Resources MAA Fatmi wrote to AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad.
The scheme will be extended to all areas of the country from 2008-09, the minister wrote to Mr Prasad after he raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha.
