Four of family killed in accident
Rupnagar, Mar 1 (UNI) Four members of a family, including three women, were killed in a road accident on Rupnagar-Chandigarh road near Solkhian village, about seven kms from here, this morning.
According to police, the accident took place around 1030 hrs when their car collided with a mini truck near Gurudwara Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Solkhian.
The deceased have been identified as Dr Avtar Singh Sooch (73) and his wife Jasjit Kaur (70), Jasjit Kaur's paternal aunt Surjit Kaur (80) and sister-in-law Parminder Kaur (65). All were the residents of Amritsar district and were going to Chandigarh from Amritsar to attend 'bhog' and Antim Ardas' of Jasjit Kaur's paternal uncle.
The police officials of highway patrolling reached the spot immediately and brought the bodies of the victims to the Rupnagar Civil hospital, the police said.
