Dalit women shot dead; killer booked under NSA

Fatehpur, Mar 1 (UNI) Two dalit women were shot dead for stealing a handful of gram from a field in Ashowar station area here late last night, police said today.

The incident took place at Kusummi village yesterday when Khushiya (40) and Asha Devi (20) plucked few stalks of gram from a field.

On being caught; the field owner and his brother first abused the duo and them assaulted them.

Defending herself on of the poor women attacked the man with an axe, following which he released trigger on them, Superintendent of Police K S Pippal said.

The culprits were arrested and booked under the National Security Act (NSA) The bodies had been sent for post mortems.
