Chana March 08 contract gains by 3.68 pc

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) Chana March 08 contract gained by 3.68 per cent at Rs 2989 per quintal today.

Multi-Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) posted a total turnover of Rs 934.64 crore and 13,259 trades during the day.

The composite index of metals, energy and ago-commodities gained by 0.21 per cent at 2764.80 points. MCX Metals index rose marginally and MCX agri index recorded a rise of 1.30 per cent at 1942.28 points. Energy index declined marginally, a MCX statement said.

In bullion, all gold contracts gained, with gold December 08 contract up by 1.01 per cent at Rs 12,590 per 10 grams. Silver contracts too saw a marginal gain, silver March 08 being up by 0.83 per cent, a Rs 24,911 per kg.

In metals, gains and losses were evenly divided. Aluminum, tin and zinc contracts recorded a gain while copper, lead and nickel declined by a slight margin.

Aluminium March 08 contract was up by 0.33 per cent at Rs 123.35 per kg but, nickel April was down by 0.94 per cent at Rs 1268 per kg.

All crude oil contracts recorded a fall while, August 08 contract remained unchanged. Natural gas contracts too showed a decline with the May contract remaining unchanged. CFI contracts gained with CFI December 09 contract rose by 2 per cent at Rs 1427.50 per tonne.

Refsoyoil, rjkcasseed, chana, pepper, kapaskhali made gains.

Sugarsklp June 08 contract gained by 3.03 per cent at Rs 1395 per quintal. Chana, refsoyoil contracts gained impressively with chana April 08 contract was up by 3.73 per cent at Rs 3029 per quintal and refsoyoil March 08 contract was up by 3.96 per cent at Rs 697.80 per 10 kgs.

In the top ten gainers, refsoyoil March 08 contract led the list with a 3.96 per cent rise at Rs 697.80 per 10 kgs and refsoyoil May 08 contract by 3.49 per cent at Rs 719.60 per 10 kgs, a release said.
