Anti-Social elements resposible for Sangli Violence: Patil
Sangli, Maharashtra, Mar 1 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said people involved in illegal business activities were behind the recent violence in Sangli city, following the screening of ''Jodhaa Akbar''.
Mr Patil, who also holds the State Home portfolio, said that as per the available information illegal business runners, whose activities were stopped by police, are behind these incidents.
The film has got clearance from Film Censor Board and was released in various parts of the country, but no ''Hindutvawadi Sanghatana'' has approached the police, he pointed out.
''Shiv Sena-BJP alliance government never took the responsibility of violence that erupted in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Mumbai, during its tenure, but now it is blaming the police only for political gains,'' Mr Patil said.
On the issue of ''Shivpratisthan'' activists and some ''Hindutvawadi'' organisations demanding transfer of Sangli District Superintendent Krishnaprakash, Mr Patil said he would take the decision only after going through the inquiry committee's reports.
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar deserves credit of farmers' Loan waivers in yesterday's budget, since it came only due to his efforts, Mr Patil added.
