Some laud, some criticise new Union Budget

Lucknow, Feb 29 (UNI) The much-awaited Union Budget 2008-09, presented in Lok Sabha by Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today, drew a mixed response from various political parties in Uttar Pradesh.

Giving her reaction, UP Congress president Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi said ''this is the 21st century's budget, which reflects the fulfillment of promises of the Congress led-United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre.'' '' Its a comman-man's budget and would benefit all, including farmers,'' she expressed, adding the budget would prove to be a milestone for agricultural revolution.

Besides, it would could check inflation, the Congress leader claimed.
