Rajya Sabha adjourned till 1200 hrs over farmers issue

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The Opposition disrupted proceedings in the Rajya Sabha on the issue of waiver of farmers' loans for the third day in a row today, leading to adjournment of the House till 1200 hrs.

As soon as the House assembled, the opposition members, including the BJP-led NDA, were on their feet, demanding that the Government waive off the loans of farmers and implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee.

The Opposition members also indulged in slogan-shouting against the Government, dubbing it ''anti-farmer''.

The pleas of Chairman Hamid Ansari to the Opposition to maintain order and allow the Question Hour to proceed went in vain as they continued to stage noisy scenes.

Amid the din, the Chairman adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.
