New budget is common-man friendly: Malviya
Allahabad, Feb 29 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former union minister Satya Prakash Malviya today termed Union Budget 2008-09 ''common- man friendly'' and ''worthwhile'' for all classes of society, including farmers, women, youth and government/private employees.
Addressing a press conference here, the Senior Congress leader welcomed the tax relief to farmers and applauded many aspects of the new budget. He declared it the achievement of the UPA government and also appreciated the Railway budget.
Talking about Shastri Bridge here, Mr Malviya said this bridge was made in 1981-82 with an investment of Rs 1150.72 lakh and it has recovered Rs 3637.67 lakh till December 31, 2007, therefore government should give tax relief to private vehicles like cars and jeeps.
