MP Cong praises, BJP flays Budget
Bhopal, Feb 29 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee today welcomed the United Progressive Alliance government's Budget 2008-09 by terming it as public welfare-oriented and progressive while state's Bhartiya Janata Party has slammed it as directionless and disappointing.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan suggested that the production cost in agriculture should be reduced otherwise farmers would again be trapped in the vicious cycle of loans.
Congress General Secretary and former chief minister Digvijay Singh described the Budget as farmer and welfare-oriented.
Pointing out that about four crore farmers would be benefitted from the Budget, Congress state President Suresh Pachouri said that they would also get concessions in availing loans, fertiliser and agricultural implements.
