Govt proposes to hike salary of doctors on contract
Ranchi, Feb 29 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today expressed concern over exodus of doctors from the state and announced that process was on to hike salary of specialist doctors to Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 for general practitioners.
But the mode of payment would be only for doctors on contract, Health Minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi told the House.
Replying to a supplementary, Mr Shahi said at present there were 1051 vacant posts for doctors and the Jharkhand Public Service Commission was instructed to initiate process for recruitment of the same.
Members from both Treasury and Opposition expressed concern over the fact that large of number of doctors were shifting to neighbouring Bihar as they were geting better renumeration in that state.
The members cutting across party lines urged the government to take positive steps to prevent the exodus of doctors by offering better package.
