Four militants killed, another arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar Feb 29: Security forces killed all the four militants, who were holed up in a house since last evening in south Kashmir, while another was arrested in north Kashmir.

An official spokesman said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and the Army launched a major offensive early today and stormed the house where the four militants were holed up since last evening in village Saidapora Shopian in south Kashmir.

He said all the four militants reportedly belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen and Al-Badr were killed.

The encounter, started last evening when a joint search party was attacked by the militants from a house, he said, adding that four AK assault rifles and some ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

The border Security Force (BSF) apprehended an Al-Badr militant of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat at Kupwara last evening.

One Chinese pistol with magazine and eight rounds were recovered from his possession, he said.
