Arctic Monkeys top winners at 2008 NME Awards
London, Feb 29 : British rockers the Arctic Monkeys emerged as the big winners at the 2008 NME Awards, scooping a total of three prizes.
The group was awarded gongs for British Band and for Best Track, 'Fluorescent Adolescent' and Best Video 'Teddy Picker', both of which are singles from their sophomore album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'.
Meanwhile, Babyshambles front man Pete Doherty bagged Hero of the Year honour at the ceremony and Kylie Minogue won the Sexiest woman title, reports the Sun.
'Villain Of The Year' award went to George W Bush while Amy Winehouse bagged the worst dresses celebrity gong.
The award for the worst album went to Britney Spears' 'Blackout'.
