Telangana University to start from Aug

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (UNI) The Telangana University will start functioning from August 15, Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Minister D Srinivas informed the state Assembly today.

Replying to a question from E Ravinder Reddy and other TRS members, he said the contractor had agreed to complete the construction of university building by July.

Replying to supplimentary questions, the minister said recognition from the University Grants Commission for the Varsity established as per the law passed by the State Legislature was only a ''formality.'' The State Government had allocated Rs 16 crore to the univesity coming up in Ditchpally in Nizamabad district of which Rs 15.75 crore had been spent so far, he said, adding that work orders were issued for construction of administrative building, lab and classroom and hostels for girls and boys.
