Miscreants kill CPI(M) activist in Nadia

Krishnagar, Feb 28 (UNI) Unidentifed miscreants today shot dead a local CPI (M) activist Amirul Haq Biswas at Barbakpur under Karimpur police station in Nadia district.

Police said about a dozen miscreants attacked Biswas near his home and shot two bullets from close range and struck with sharp weapons.

The Maoist-sponsored three-day bandh in the district to protest against the arrest of Himadri Sen Roy, alias Somen, evoked poor response in the district.

Elsewhere, a house of a CPI (M) worker was set on fire by some criminals at Kotwali area. There was, however, no report of injury in the fire.
