Boat capsizes due to accumulated sand
Puducherry, Feb 28 (UNI) A boat capsized at the estuary of Ariyanakuppam river due to the alleged accumulation of sand here today.
Police said the boat, owned by Raghupathy of Cuddalore, got fully damaged and injured fishermen in it.
The boat was later towed to the port by other fishing boats. The accumulation of sand on the rivermouth was said to be the cause for the mishap and fishermen put forth the demand to dredge the estuary further.
Presently a dredging ship owned by the Kerala Maritime Development Corproation was in the process of dredging out the accumulated sand here.
