Srinagar, Feb 27: Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) has produced 3 challans in courts against police, Education and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
In the first challan the VO said Assistant Director CA&PD Tariq Ahmad Qadri was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant for release of his pending payment on August 31 last year.
The challan was produced in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir today.
Another challan was also produced in the same court against two police officials - constable Mushtaq Hussain Shah and constable Mohammad Ashraf, the VO said they were found to have extorted an amount of Rs 89,000 from people of village Drager Budgam on the promise of providing government employment to their wards.
The VO also produced challan against six officials of Education department Jatinder Kumar Gupta, Accounts Officer Directorate Education Jammu, Balwan Singh, Lecturer Geology, Rameshwer Kumar, Lecturer Geology, Thakur Dass Sharma then CEO Poonch, Prem Prakash Verma then CEO Kathua, Balbir Singh Jamwal then CEO Udhampur and Jasvinder Singh Manocha Proprietor M/s Cosmo Polyton Traders, Vir Marg Jammu for purchase of sub-standard microscopes on highly exorbitant rates in the year 2004-2005 causing loss to the state exchequer to the tune of Rs 5.40 lakhs.
