Delhi rally is warning to UPA-govt: Minister
Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) Punjab Minister for Information and Public Relations, Bikram Singh Majithia, today said the massive response of people of Punjab to the' Insaaf Rally' in New Delhi yesterday was indicative of the fact that '' countdown has begin for Congress led UPA Government at the Centre''.
In a statement here, Mr Majithia said the large crowds present in the rally gave a clear warning to the ''fascist'' Union Government to desist from discriminatory anti-farmer and anti-Punjab policies.
In one of the biggest rallies in New Delhi, the people of Punjab warned the government to desist from interfering in religious affairs of Sikhs through the creation of separate gurdwara management committees for states under Congress rule.
Mr Majithia said the rally was reminiscent of the student rally organised by the well known socialist leader, the late Jai Prakash Narain against the Emergency in Patna, that proved a ''death knell'' for the Indira Gandhi government. The enthusiastic response in the rally was a reflection of the anger of the people against the policies of the UPA government, he said.
Meanwhile, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal thanked the people of Punjab for turning out in large numbers at the rally.
