New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Eyeing the growing strong beer segment in north India, Asia Pacific Breweries (Aurangabad) Ltd (APBL) today launched Baron's Strong Brew here.

''Baron's, priced at Rs 50 for 650 ml, will now be available in the city, as the strong beer segment has grown at the CAGR of over 40 per cent over the last three years in the city alone,'' APBL Regional Director (South Asia and Group Business Development) Vivek Chhabra.

The Singapore-based global beer major also owns the Tiger beer brand, which is also expected to be brewed here by middle of the year.

''We might bring the brand in by middle of the year,'' Mr Chhabra said.

Baron's will be brewed, using European malt, hops and yeast, at its recently-acquired brewery in Aurangabad.

Baron's is the latest in the line of international beer brands to be produced and distributed in the country. The Australian company Foster's, now acquired by South African Brewery, (SABMiller), and SAB Miller's own brands are being produced and marketed here.

Budweiser, a product of Anheuser-Busch, is also being manufactured here.

Baron's Strong Brew will cater to the strong beer segment, which contributes to over two-thirds of beer volumes in the country, Mr Chhabra said.

ABPL is a joint venture of Holland's Heineken and Fraser and Neave N V.
