Two-day strike by Bank employees withdrawn

Bangalore, Feb 25 (UNI) Bank employees withdrew their proposed two-day strike supposed to have commenced from today following success of dialogue by Canara Bank Chairman M B N Rao, who is also Indian Banks Association Chairman.

According to sources, Mr Rao held discussion with Union leaders and persuaded them to withdraw the strike.

Details of the talks were not immediately known as Mr Rao flew to Mumbai.

United Forum of Banks Union had given call for nationwide strike demanding, among other things, dropping of merger of associate banks with State Bank of India (SBI), wage revision, another pension option and termination of contract employment.
