Symantec launches recovery software for Windows Server 2008

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Leading provider of security, storage and system management solutions Symantec Corp today launched the first certified backup and recovery software for Windows Server 2008--Symantec Backup Exec 12.

''Aimed at delivering optimised data protection for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Symantec Backup Exec 12 will provide data protection for file servers, workstations, and Microsoft Exchange and SQL servers, enabling organisations to store data to a point in time to help meet strict recovery point objectives,'' Symantec India Director (Channels and Alliances) Ajay Verma told reporters at a conference here.

It rapidly restores data from a single pass backup with patent-pending Granular Recovery Technology, which obviates the need to run mailbox backups to recover emails and make it easy to restore SharePoint, SharePoint Services, and Active Directory data, from documents to user attributes and properties, in seconds, he added.

The US-based company, with operations in 40 countries, also launched Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8, which has flexible offsite protection and enhanced recovery capabilities.

''With disk-based Backup Exec System Recovery, organisations can recover from system loss or disasters in minutes, even to dissimilar hardware, virtual environments or in remote, unattended locations,'' Mr Verma said.
