Pooja to lead Chandigarh in National Women Football
Chandigarh, Feb 25 (UNI) Pooja of MCM DAV College here will lead an 18-member Chandigarh squad in the 16th Senior National Women Football Championship being organised at Haldia (West Bengal) from February 29 to March 16.
Chandigarh Football Association general secretary Rakesh Bakshi said that RK Sharma and Kamal would accompany the team as manager and coach, respectively.
The girls attended a 20-day coaching camp at Dev Samaj College ground in Sector 45 here before leaving for Haldia this evening.
The other members of the team are Sumandeep Kaur, Parminder Kaur, Harnoor, Rupinder Kaur, Punam Deol, Tanya, Punam Ghosai, Meena, Rekha, Simran Sardana, Anjana Dogran Priyanka Negi, Nikky, Sunita, Jaskiran, Renu and Kawaljeet.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh, along with Orissa and Mizoram are in Cluster II for the preliminary league. They will play their first match against Orissa on February 29 and next encounter is against Mizoram on March 2.
The teams have been divided into seven clusters for the preliminary league. Top team in each cluster will qualify for the quarter-final league. The second best team in the clusters will join the seven quarter-finalists. For quarter-final league, the teams will be divided into two groups. Two best teams in each group will qualify for semi-finals.
