Five consortiums in for Vizhinjam project: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 25 (UNI) Kerala Sports and Ports Minister M Vijayakumar today told the Assembly that five consortium's, consisting of 17 companies, had placed their tenders for the Vizhinjam Container Transshipment Terminal project in the state.
In a written reply to George Mercier (Cong), he said besides domestic companies, those from the UK, Greece, Kuwait, Singapore and Malaysia were members of the consortium.
Mr Vijayakumar said the government had taken necessary steps to complete the works in a time-bound manner.
The government had also signed an MoU with 'Rights,' a Central institution, for taking up a feasibility study on connecting the port with National Highway and rail lines.
