Couple robbed of cash, jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh
Ramanathapuram, Feb 25 (UNI) A four-member armed gang robbed gold ornaments and cash worth Rs seven lakh from the house of an elderly couple after threatening them with a sword in Karikkuttam village here today.
Police sources said the gang broke into the house and pounced on Noor Mohammed (64), a former panchayat president. The gang after threatening Noor Mohammed and his wife, took away 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 1.96 lakh cash.
Senior police officials, along with a fingerprint expert, rushed to the spot and held inquiries. A special police team was formed to nab the culprits, police added.
