Governor inaugurates IPPI in Nagaland

Kohima, Feb 24 (UNI) Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayan inaugurated the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) at the Naga Hospital here this morning.

Inaugurating the IPPI, by administering the first Polio drop to a baby here, the Governor informed that the programme had saved the lives of 30 million people in the last two decades, along with six other major vaccine preventable diseases - Pertussis, Children Tuberculosis, Tetanus, Polio, Measles and Diphtheria.

He appealed to all to join the programme, for the better health of future generations.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, state secretary of Health and Family Welfare Menukul John informed that altogether 2,78,605 children, in the age group of zero to five years, were targeted to be covered by the IPPI in Nagaland.

The IPPI comprises 2,784 Polio booths, where a total of 11,500 people were working to complete the programme.
