Eight Lankan refugees on Indian soil
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Feb 24 (UNI) Eight Sri Lankan Tamil refugees arrived in two batches at Arichalmunai coast here today.
Official sources said, the ethnic Tamils, hailing from Vauvuniya and Talaimannar areas in the strife-torn nation, reached the Indian coast after shelling out an amount varying from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 per head to 'clandestine boat operators.' After formal interrogation by the Intelligence officials, they were taken at the Mandapam refugee camp near here.
