Prime accused in senior SP leader's murder case held

Kanpur, Feb 23 (UNI) The city police here today arrested the alleged murderer of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former Bithoor block chief Shravan Kumar Singh.

Prime accused Deepu Dubey was nailed in the Collectorganj area following a tip-off, the police said.

On February 16, masked desperadoes had shot at Singh, when he had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in the Bithoor area of the district.

In critical condition, he was admitted to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on February 18.

Incidentally, on court directions, police had also started Dubey's attachment of property this morning.

Dubey had an old enmity with the SP leader, the police informed.
