MP village pledge to forsake liquor
Morena, MP, Feb 23 (UNI) The denizens of a village in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, where crime rate was escalating due to excess consumption of liquor, have taken a pledge unanimously not to take the alcohol anymore.
In the presence of police officers, the Bisangpur village's residents vowed in the meeting of Panchayat's Gram Rakhsa Samiti that they would not consume the alcohol in or outside the village. Also, they would fine a person found violating this decision.
It was pointed out in the meeting, held on February 15, that the social evil forced many villagers to indulge in crimes, including smuggling of illegal liquor.
Villagers took this pledge on the advice of police officers, who are optimistic that the crime rate will come down.
