K'taka Women Commission for single window for victims in acidattack
Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) Karnataka Women Commission Chairperson Shalini Rajneesh today called for a single window approach for meeting specific needs like medico-legal support and rehabilitation of women victims in acid attack.
Speaking at a Seminar on 'Victims of Acid Attack' here, she said that prevention of the gender-based violence is the best way and the government should without delay pursue a policy for eliminating it against women.
She also called for regulation of sale of acids.
She said that the state government has formulated a scheme called 'Suraksha' to provide compensation, rehabilitation for acid attacked women and girls.
"Under the scheme the victims, their families are entitled for claim upto Rs two lakh towards the medical expenditure incurred and for other rehabilitation facilities," she added.
