Indian Idol finalist not campaigning for Congress
Shilllong, Feb 23 (UNI) Congress today clarified that Indian Idol finalist Amit Paul has nothing to do with Congress' election rallies in Meghalaya.
Yesterday, AICC leader-in-charge of Meghalaya Margaret Alva had told reporters that Paul would perform in Congress President Sonia Gandhi's election rallies.
''He is not campaigning for the Congress, but will perform to welcome Mrs Sonia Gandhi to the state,'' Ms Alva said, taking her statement back, in which she told reporters yesterday that Amit Paul will campaign for the Congress.
Notably, it was her son Nikil Alva's of Miditech, who had produced the 'Indian Idol' contest.
In fact, the ruling Congress-led government had accorded the brand ambassador status to Paul for 'peace, communal harmony and excellence'.
